On his third EP, James Varghese presents a louder and edgier side of his work. From the hectic tones of India (Jhunjhunu) to the trance sounds of a yet-to-be-invented computer game (Magnetic Fields), the Zurich sound artist is blazing new paths.

"I'm amazed at how quickly you're pigeonholed into a certain genre. But I'm not interested in making just ambient music or just electronica. When I discover a sound that is harsh and piercing, it triggers something else in me than a soft, round sound. And if that results in a song that sounds like trance, it wasn't my desired destination, but the result of a long journey, where I feel more like a passenger than a captain."

«Ambition» is driven by the desire to break free from one's own patterns and the expectations of others. To rise from the comfort sofa and take the leap into unknown waters.
